The following homework is due on Tuesday 4/2 (after spring break) at the start of class.
1: Write a thank-you note to President Verret for taking out the time to give us this interview. Your note should be two to three lines long. This assignment is due on Brightspace after the spring break, on Tuesday, 4/2 at the start of class.
2: Submit a research packet for your final investigative story, following the guidelines below. All research packets should contain the following elements:
- Your pitch, which should include the problem and central question as well as any edits and/or revisions I've suggested.
- Who was harmed and how? Be specific. Include names and quotes.
- Who was responsible (it may be more than one person/company/government office)? Again, be specific, with names and quotes whenever possible.
- How is this problem systemic? Why should your audience care about this story?
- A timeline that includes at least 10 research sources. These should be links, if possible. You do not have to write formal footnotes or a bibliography—just links that I can click on to see the source.
- An evidence map that includes at least five different kinds of evidence.
Submit items 1-6 on Brightspace by the beginning of class on Tuesday, 4/2 (after spring break). Also have it in front of you during class, as we will workshop some outlines together.
